Presidio
Politico Cubano
Communiqué
The
entire Presidio Politico Cubano (Cuban Political Prisioners
Organization) upon the public opinion:
Hold
President Bill Clinton and Secretary of Justice, Janet Reno, responsible
for all material and moral damages that have taken place, and will take
place, in Miami Dade and other cities of the United States due to the
Cuban and Hispanic Community’s protests motivated by the violent and
illegal form in which Mr. Clinton and Ms. Reno have handled the Elián
Gonzalez case and his Miami Family.
We
denounce the obvious compliance of the President and the Secretary of
Justice with Castro’s government, because this case of little Elián
Gonzalez has been acted out and led under the direct orientation of
Castro’s government, for Castro’s own convenience and advantage.
Therefore,
we demand that Congress carry out an investigation of the deceiving
links and arrangements that Clinton’s government has performed through
attorney Gregory Craig, and other financial interests groups, with
Castro’s government in both, Elián Gonzalez’s case and in future
agreements with such dictatorship.
In
Miami, this twenty-fourth day of April of the year 2000
