The Cuban American community in New
York City calls you!
March 25th 2000 from 2-5 PM
at Hunter College, Lecture Hall,
615 Hunter West
The infamous Pastors
for Peace, International Action Center, front groups and other communist
sympathizers will hold a propaganda symposium in New York City to
help Fidel Castro and to undermine future democracy in Cuba. Congressman
José Serrano, Lucius Walker, Ramsey
Clark and Teresa
Gutierrez (A prime organizer of all pro Castro marches in New York City)
are part of this "symposium". The event is to be an all
out celebration of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro, and efforts to
send Elián González back to communist Cuba.
The Cuban American
community will have a group to protest this event. The media is
expected.
We will stress: non
violence, democracy, future civil society in Cuba, the crimes of the
Castro dictatorship, and the plight of Cuban political dissidents within
the island today and yesteryear. We will do everything within our
legal rights to turn this hypocritical event around and confront the
Castro supporters in an aggressive debate and protest. Furthermore José
Serrano must be put to task for his hypocritical support to Castro
repressive and corrupt dictatorship.
Please contact us at stop_castro@iname.com and
let us know if you can help the Cuban American community in New York
City.
We are acting as
messengers to get everybody involved.

URGENT
/ URGENT / URGENT
Considering the
request by Miami exiles organizations that the protests are suspended
for now, we thought we should comply until and if the judge rules
against us, early next week. However, we should be ready to go at a
moment's notice!
A peaceful demonstration
will be held Monday, January 10th starting at 4PM (until
about 6PM) 26 Federal Plaza, corner of Broadway and DUwayne St. downtown
Manhattan in front of the INS offices (Federal Bldg.), (2 blocks north
of City Hall) New York, NY
The group coordinating
the event is a group of concerned citizens -Citizens for Just Treatment
for Elián-, which invites all organizations and members of the
Cuban-American community as well as all freedom-loving citizens of this
great country to join in our effort.
The demonstration will
call for:
-
Due process for Elián.
-
Elian’s father,
accompanied by his family, to come to state his case in this
country, without duress, free of blackmail.
-
Worldwide condemnation of
Cuba’s communist governments systematic violations of the rights
of parents, children and families in Cuba.
More information, stamen
for the media and text of press release will follow.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
-Make attending a
priority. The media from the whole world is following this story.
This is a unique opportunity, one we seldom have to counter Castro's
propaganda, call for Cuba's freedom, and alert the world of the tragedy
that for so long has affected Cuba's families and children.
-Please notify as many
people as possible, urging them to attend (by phone, e-mail, fax, etc.).
You may cut and paste from this message. Particularly call on the
area's Cuban-American community, which understands what is at stake here
and knows this to be a Communist propaganda ploy and crude political
blackmail on Castro's part.
-Prepare and bring
posters calling attention not only to the facts about the Elián case,
but also to the Castro totalitarian regime's systematic violations of
the rights of children and families, the 4-decade long tragedy befallen
on Cuba's people, especially the forceful division of families by the
Communist regime, its brutal and senseless killing of innocent children
or their parents, the use of political and socio-economic blackmail to
control people's livelihoods and minds, the forced removal of the young
to work-study in the countryside, the usurpation of the right of parents
to educate their children and make the important decisions regarding
their well-being, etc., etc.
-Urgently needed:
1.Please
find and contact people who can provide real testimonials - especially
family stories involving children separated by the Castro regime from
their parents, kids who were sent to "escuelas del campo" and
others.
2.We need blown up photos
of the tugboat massacre and other pertinent real life incidents and
cases.
To
volunteer pleas call at any of the following tel. numbers:

Freedom
YES, Van Van NO!!!
In a direct attack of
Cuban exiles, the musical group "Los Van Van" will be
appearing in Miami. The group named itself in honor of the sugar
cane harvest whose goal of 10 million tons was never achieved,
and more specifically the phrase "Fidel los 10 milliones
van van". Loosely speaking this phrase was used to tell
Castro, "Fidel the 10 million tons were going going".
The group "Los Van
Van", a political arm for the tyranny, is an organization used to
raise funds.
On October 9 "Los
Van Van" and the ACLU will try to raise funds, at $50 per person,
for Fidel Castro.
However the exile
community will present the movie "Libertad"(Freedom), at $10
per person, at the Knight Center. At the end of the movie the
exile community will go to protest the presentation of Castro's
puppets better known as "Los Van Van. We will offer
more details in the next couple of days.

MEET TRUE
HEROES:
Survivors of Castro's Gulags
"No one shall be subjected to
arbitrary arrest, detention or exile."
Article 9, Universal Declaration of
Human Rights
Dear Colleague,
The Universal Declaration of Human
Rights sets forth international guidelines to protect the rights and dignities of
all human beings. Although a signatory of this document, the Cuban regime has
disregarded
these and other international standards by continuing to systematically and
repeatedly violate the most basic rights of its own people for the past forty
years. During that time, thousands of innocent people have been subjected to
beatings, torture, and arbitrary detentions.
For some of those lucky enough to have
survived Castro's gulags, the opportunity to inform the international community
about the Cuban reality has become a mission. Their stories are graphic,
violent examples of the oppressive and diabolical nature of the regime that rules Cuba
with an iron grip.
We invite you to join us in listening to the
testimony of those who have experienced the horror of Cuba's prisons simply for
expressing their rights as free human beings.
Wednesday, May 19th 12:00pm
2200 Rayburn building on South Capitol ST.between Independence Ave. and C st.
We encourage you to take advantage of this rare opportunity to meet with Cuban political
prisoners:
Alberto Grau Sierra
Ana Lazara Rodriguez

a Cuba.
fecha.
